Check the oil and transmission pans of your vehicle. You can us the oil dipstick method to check if there is a need for changing the oil. When you spot any whitish discoloration in the oil that is a sign that is has been contaminated and that you have to change it. When in doubt, drain the oil in order to avoid using any that may have been contaminated by flood waters. After draining, refill the pans with new oil and transmission fluid. If you are driving a vehicle with automatic transmission, you need to inspect your automatic transmission fluid. Use the dipstick method again to determine whether or not such fluid has been contaminated and needs to be changed.
